At Alpine Ridge Adventures, we fully believe in the ethics of, and operate within the 7 Leave No Trace Guidelines:
Plan Ahead and Prepare
We will take care of the planning and preparation of your trip into the backcountry, but it is always recommended that you download and print you map beforehand and familiarize yourself with the land you will be traveling on.
Travel & Camp on Durable Surfaces
All of our hikes are on designated and maintained trails, and camping is always on pre-selected campsites so as not to disturb nature and those that live there.
Dispose of Waste Properly
Everyone wants to take a souvenir, but that's what photos are for. Pack it in, pack it out. Nothing that you bring into the wilderness will be left there, with the exception of properly disposed-of human waste and footprints. When latrines are not available, campers will be instructed on the use of cat-holes.
Leave What You Find
Natural objects of beauty or interest such as antlers, petrified wood or colored rocks add to the mood of the backcountry and should be left so others can experience a sense of discovery. In national parks and many other protected places, it is illegal to remove natural objects.
Hammering nails into trees, hacking at them with hatchets and saws, or carving initials into trees or rocks is unacceptable. any evidence of destruction or vandalism will result in immediate cancellation of the trip.
Minimize Campfire Impacts
Campfires are only permitted at certain locations and under certain conditions. Alpine Ridge Adventures follows all local recommendations and practices regarding campfires. Personal stoves are provided to all guests for meal preparation should campfires prove to be unfeasible.
Respect Wildlife
Quick movements and loud noises are stressful to animals. At Alpine Ridge Adventures, we travel quietly and do not pursue, feed or force animals to flee. (With the exception of bears should they pose a problem.)
Be Considerate of Others
One of the most important components of outdoor ethics is to maintain courtesy toward other visitors. It helps everyone enjoy their outdoor experience. Many people come to the outdoors to listen to nature. Excessive noise, such as speakers, take away from the natural appeal of the outdoors and are not allowed. Headphones are fine.
The general assumption on a narrow trail is that hikers headed downhill will step aside to allow an uphill foot traveler to easily pass. Hiking etiquette suggests that hikers will yield to equestrians, and that bicyclists will yield to both hikers and equestrians on trails.
